About Play Therapy

What is Play Therapy

"Play Therapy is based upon the fact that play is the child's natural medium of self expression...It is an opportunity which is given to the child to 'play out' his/her feelings and problems just as in certain types of therapy an individual 'talks out' his or her  difficulties."  ~ Virginia Axline

How long does Play Therapy take?

Each play therapy session varies in length but usually lasts about 45 to 50 minutes.  Parents and guardians are children's biggest advocates, their #1 Fans, and the people who are most intimately aware of how the child thinks, functions, behaves and reacts. Parental/custodial involvement during treatment is crucial to reach goals and see results.
